The Daily Camera of Boulder, Colo., has reported that editor Susan Deans will step down from her position in November. She will remain with the Camera as a writer, and will also continue to serve on the paper’s editorial board. She has been editor of the paper since 2003.

Deans is quoted as saying she hopes her legacy in Boulder will be her passion for local news.

“My love has always been local news,” she is quoted as saying in the Camera article. “I hope I’ve helped to increase the quantity and quality of local news coverage here along with a great staff.”

The publisher and president of the Daily Camera, Al Manzi, is quoted as saying that the decision to leave was Dean’s, and that no one had asked her to move on.
