Mike Keefe of The Denver Post and the Cagle Cartoons syndicate has won this year’s Fischetti Editorial Cartoon Competition, EditorialCartoonists.com reported today. He’ll receive $4,000.

Receiving honorable mentions were Clay Bennett of The Christian Science Monitor and The Christian Science Monitor News Service, and Steve Sack of the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Creators Syndicate.

Seventy-two cartoonists submitted 216 cartoons for the contest, which will hold an award ceremony in Chicago on April 30. The three winners will speak that day.

This year marks the 25th time Columbia College in Chicago has given the award. John Fischetti was a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist whose work was published in the New York Herald-Tribune, the Chicago Daily News, and the Chicago Sun-Times.
