Editorial Staff Changes at ‘Dallas Morning News’

The Dallas Morning News has appointed several newsroom staffers to new positions.

Leslie Snyder has been named arts editor, and will oversee arts and entertainment coverage, GuideLive, Guide, GuideLive.com, and TV Week. Snyder, who most most recently was day arts editor, has been an editor at the paper for 17 years.

Cathy Barber is the Morning News’ new features editor. She will oversee lifestyles coverage, including the Healthy Living, Taste and House & Garden sections. She will continue in her previous position as food & wine editor. Barber has been an editor at The Dallas Morning News for 21 years and a former vice president of the Association of Food Journalists.

Jennifer Okamoto is now senior editor/lifestyles for DallasNews.com, a position in which she has served on an interim basis for several months. Okamoto will develop and manage the strategic direction of Lifestyles content on DallasNews.com and coach and train print journalists in the Lifestyles section.

Mariana Greene has been named House & Garden editor. Greene has been a Home section writer since 2002. Before that, she was editor of Texas Homes Magazine, Dallas-Fort Worth House & Home, and Dallas Child Magazine.

Michael Merschel is the paper’s new books editor. He most recently was Sunday Life editor.
