The Beacon Journal reported today that Edward R. Moss had been named publisher, replacing James N. Crutchfield, who was publisher since 2001. Moss’ appointment will become effective Aug. 7.
Moss is currently vice president of sales and marketing for Media General, the Richmond, Va.-based company that owns 25 dailies and 100 weeklies. Prior to this job, Moss served as publisher for newspapers in California, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Michigan.
Moss was appointed publisher by David Black, who is president of Black Press Ltd. and its subsidiary Sound Publishing Holdings Inc. Black will become the Beacon Journal’s owner on or about July 28, when it completes its purchase from McClatchy Newspapers.
