Egypt Approves Anti-Terror Law to Fine Journalists for ‘False’ Reporting on Attacks

The Egyptian government has granted itself sweeping powers to combat terrorism and punish media outlets which stray from the regime’s official line.

 

The new law, passed by President Abdel Fattah al Sisi on Sunday, will speed up court proceedings, increase pretrial detention and imposes hefty fines for “false” media reports.
