Eric Grilly To Leave MediaNews Group For

Eric Grilly, MediaNews Group Interactive president, is jumping ship to become president of, the Web site for The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News. In his new role, Grilly will be responsible for all digital operations including strategy, content, and new product development. He reports to CEO Brian Tierney.

“If you had to count the top online executives in the news and information space on one hand, Eric would be among the most talented and knowledgeable,” Tierney said in a statement.

Grilly joined MediaNews in 1999 and served as vice president of Interactive media at the company?s Denver Post. He was also one of the architects behind the newspaper/Yahoo alliance

“This ownership group made history and I am thrilled to join this entrepreneurial team and to be associated with two of the most respected journalistic names in the business,” Grilly said in a statement. “I look forward to building on this great journalistic heritage to accelerate our movement into the digital world.”
