Jim Dible is retiring as the publisher and chief executive of the Times Publishing Co., parent of the Erie Times-News.

Dible will retire Oct. 1 and be replaced by Rosanne Cheeseman, now the publisher of the Rapid City Journal in South Dakota.

Cheeseman, 53, will become the eighth publisher in the 119-year history of the Times Publishing Co., which publishes the Times-News and GoErie.com.

John Mead Flanagin, chairman of Times Publishing’s board of directors, announced the changes Thursday.

Dible, 64, was hired as vice president and general manager of Times Publishing in 1996 and became publisher and chief executive in 2003. Dible was the first person outside the Mead family to head the newspaper company.
