The Times Publishing Company announced Thursday that it will contract to print the Erie Times-News elsewhere, resulting in the layoffs of about 40 full- and part-time employees.
The company will purchase printing and packaging services from a third-party vendor that has not yet been selected. The change likely would take place some time in the third quarter of this year.
Though it is leaving the printing and packaging business, the company will continue to run the Erie Times-News as a family-owned daily newspaper.
