Newspaper Companies Invest In Digital Radio Site
(Mediaweek) Everstream, a streaming media company and network, has completed a round of funding, in which Knight Ridder Ventures, Gannett Co., and Pulitzer Inc., among others, have invested a total of $8.5 million in the Cleveland-based outfit.
Everstream provides locally branded versions of its digital network of music, news, entertainment and advertising to owners of Internet sites, principally newspaper Web sites. The Everstream network features more than 56 channels of tailored content, including current hits, alternative, blues, Christian, country, classical, comedy, hip-hop/R&B and custom-created audio news and headline channels.
Functionality for the network will soon include personalization features, allowing listeners to create their own media mix by accessing other information, including news reports, traffic updates, business news, etc.
