Former Washington Post columnist William Raspberry is retiring after 13 years as a journalism/public policy professor at Duke University.
Raspberry started teaching at Duke soon after winning the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for commentary.
The writer/professor, who was syndicated by the Washington Post Writers Group, retired from the Post newspaper in late 2005.
Raspberry told “The Chronicle” paper at Duke that he plans to do memoir writing and continue working with Baby Steps, a program he started in 2003 that helps parents prepare their young kids for school.
The program is in Raspberry’s childhood hometown of Okolona, Miss., but he hopes to duplicate it in other places.
