Federal Judge Backs Enterprise in Reporter Privilege Case

In a decision strongly supporting news media First Amendment rights, a federal court in Boston has awarded The Enterprise its legal costs and dismissed a subpoena to one of its reporters.
In a ruling in favor of The Enterprise, U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns noted the subpoena demanding deposition of reporter Alex Bloom concerning his reporting of a lawsuit was “… of not enough heft to warrant a casual trenching upon First Amendment concerns.”
