Charlie Daniel of The News Sentinel in Knoxville, Tenn., has now been editorial cartooning for 50 years.
The 78-year-old Daniel, who joined The News Sentinel after the Knoxville Journal closed in 1992, has drawn about 15,000 cartoons and done four books during his long career.
In a story, The News Sentinel reported that the 50th anniversary will be celebrated in various ways. This Sunday, the paper will profile Daniel and publish some of his most memorable cartoons. And a selection of Daniel’s cartoons will be displayed in The News Sentinel lobby through September.
