1930s

With the introduction of motion- picture newsreels, the terms “photographer” and “cameraman” came to denote different occupations and skills. The San Francisco/Oakland Press Photographers Association issued this gold-tone eagletop shield to newsreel cameramen around 1934. The association’s seal is in the center of the two-and- one-quarter-inch badge, showing the Golden Gate Bridge and a Speed Graphic camera.
