Graphic Developments Inc. in Hanover, Mass., installed the first ECRM Newsmatic 250 CTP imager to improve prepress department speed and output quality. It is one of two ECRM platesetters used by the publications printer.
According to General Manager Bob Damon, jobs were running “50% faster from prepress to press” after installation. The device was sold by longtime CDI supplier The Tripp Co., Braintree, Mass., which took into account the customer’s available space for CTP. Damon also said cost, ROI, and customers’ quality expectations considerations figured in Newsmatic’s selection
Graphic Developments prints a range of community newspapers, as well as trade publications for the financial and food industries. One of the first jobs imaged on the Newsmatic 250 CTP and run off the press was a local community newspaper.
“We were able to run plates to check exposure settings on the Newsmatic 250 within two hours of starting the installation,” said Don Langston, Technical Support Director and an installation participant from Tewksbury, Mass.-based ECRM. Everything, including all training, was completed in two days, he added.
