Newspaper and magazine formats have been around for so long it’s easy to forget their content is designed to the fit the medium.

But why should pumping out a collection of 500 word news stories and 1,500 word features still be appropriate for tablets and smartphones?Tablets have been welcomed by publishers in part because content designed for a print publication can be ported straight to iPads cheaply.
