The publication and news inks divisions of Flint Group North America in Plymounth, Mich., have announced a crude oil surcharge of $0.10 per pound on all heatset, coldset and news inks, effective July 1.

This unit of Luxembourg-based Flint Group attributed the surcharge to familiar factors, saying it was needed to “offset the impact of rapidly escalating raw material, energy and freight costs.”

Mike Green, vice president and general manager of both business units said in a statement that the surcharges are part of “measured, responsible actions” taken in response to “the current economic situation.”
