A jury has found a man guilty of first-degree murder in the 2005 fatal shooting of a newspaper delivery man.
Steven Hayward was convicted after three hours of deliberation for the death of Daniel DeStefano. Hayward also was found guilty on charges of armed robbery, armed burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
DeStefano was delivering copies of The Tribune to businesses on his Fort Pierce route in February 2005 when a man wearing a stocking cap over his face approached him and demanded money.
DeStefano was shot twice. He died the following day. The same jury will return Monday to hear evidence on whether he should be sentenced to death or life in prison.
