FLYWHEEL GETS ROLLING WITH FREE CONTENT

300 Newspapers Sign Up In June





Flywheel Media, formerly Thomson Interactive Media, announced this
week that 300 newspapers subscribed to its free special-interest
Web content during the month of June. That brings the company’s
newspaper client list to 700-plus.



Flywheel is offering the content to newspaper sites from the Coverstory entertainment site, Body & More women’s health and fitness site, and
FreeZone, a site targeting children ages 7-14. Flywheel intends to
eventually provide content from ActiveTimes, serving adults over 50,
and Track & Speed, covering NASCAR racing.


The plug-in Web sections come with print counterparts, allowing for
cross promotion. Flywheel also co-brands the pages with newspapers.
The company says its network of sites generates 27 million page view
per month. Its print products reach 16 million households.



National advertising is being sold across the network, which generates
a revenue share for newspaper partners.



The products come packaged with the company’s Encore online advertising
and brochure builder, which newspapers can use for local advertisers.
