Now that Facebook has made clear that it will not be promoting journalism to its users there are several tactics and strategies that publishers can take to replace what they have lost (and will lose) from Facebook’s pivot away from news.

    For most newspapers, loss of “traffic” = people looking at their website instead of looking through the paper (which is more beneficial to advertisers) and in turn losing money because nobody really makes much money on their websites. At least not enough to support one person’s yearlong wages. In reality, if Facebook and all organizations mining news were to go away, Newspapers would flourish once again. And it would get rid of the whole “fake news/propaganda/fear pushing/b.s.” But no, we can’t have that now can we? Keep focusing on how great the internet is cuz it’s the future … The future of fools.
