South Florida Sun Sentinel Editor Earl Maucker is stepping down.
Maucker says he announced his retirement to staff last Friday, after about a year of discussions with Sun Sentinel publisher Howard Greenberg.
Tribune Co. spokesman Gary Weitman said in an e-mail there’s no word on a successor. Maucker’s retirement date wasn’t immediately set.
He worked at the newspaper nearly 30 years. Maucker says he plans to stay involved in journalism and take on other roles in the community.
Maucker is a U.S. Air Force veteran and graduate of Southern Illinois University.
