Dow Jones & Co. announced that John Engler has been elected to the company’s board of directors. Engler, 56, is president and CEO of the National Association of Manufactures, one of the largest industry trade groups in the United States.
Engler was governor of Michigan from 1991 to 2003. Prior to that he served for 20 years in the Michigan State Legislature, including seven years as state senate majority leader.
“We are delighted that John Engler is joining the Dow Jones board,” said Peter Kann, chairman and CEO of Dow Jones, in a statement. “As the CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers — and the former governor of the state of Michigan — he brings a wide range of experience to the board, along with a well-deserved reputation for good judgment and strong leadership.”
Engler fills an existing vacancy on the board, bringing the total number of directors to 16.
