A woman who police say stole $66,000 from the Keokuk newspaper where she once worked has pleaded guilty to first-degree theft.
Dianna Burris-Woods worked for the Daily Gate City from 1999 to 2007. She was arrested in November after the newspaper’s publisher called police after an internal audit discovered the missing money.
Police say Burris-Woods collected receipts to the newspaper’s classified ads department and deposited the checks but kept the cash.
She entered her plea during a hearing Monday in South Lee County District Court. Sentencing is scheduled for May 12.
