Steven T. Broas has been appointed president and CEO of Fort Wayne Newspapers and publisher of The News-Sentinel in Indiana.
Broas, 43, most recently was director of retail development on Knight Ridder’s corporate marketing staff. Before that, he served as vice president of advertising at The Kansas City Star.
Paula Ellis, Knight Ridder’s vice president of operations, said in a statement that Broas’ “strong history of revenue and profit achievement in Kansas City made him a natural to help stimulate core revenue growth and product diversification at our other large newspapers.”
He replaces Mary Jacobus, who was named president and general manager of The Boston Globe in December.
