Fox Valley Publications, a part of the Sun-Times News Group in Chicagoland, has named two senior editors of its newspaper group to help with its restructuring.
Denise Crosby, managing editor of The Beacon News in Aurora since July 2006, is now the senior print editor; while Dave Parro, The Beacon News opinions editor, has taken the role of senior interactive editor.
“Both of these journalists are great storytellers and innovators,” Rick Nagel, vice president of editorial for Fox Valley Publications, said in a statement. “They will lead us as we reorganize our papers to deliver extraordinary local content anywhere, anytime and in any form.”
As Senior Print Editor, Crosby will be responsible for coordinating content for all Fox Valley Publications, which include the The Beacon News, The Courier News in Elgin, The Naperville Sun, The Herald News in Joliet, and 12 weekly papers. Crosby has been an award-winning columnist for The Beacon News since 1995. In July 2006, she was named managing editor of the paper.
Parro has been at The Beacon News since 2001, when he was hired as a reporter. He was later promoted to sports editor, then opinions page editor. Parro has been credited with bringing several new interactive features to the paper’s Web site, including audio projects, interactive maps and live reporting tools. As senior interactive editor, Parro will be responsible for creating online content for Fox Valley newspapers, which will use a variety of platforms, including video, audio and blogs.
