FPG Forms 12-Newspaper ‘Cluster’; 170,000 Combined Circ

Family Publishing Group, LLC announced today that it has formed a 12 newspaper cluster with a combined circulation of 170,000. The formation was completed through three separate acquisitions. The sellers included Bartlett Newspapers, Inc., Lynn Sanders, Time Publishing Inc., and Shoppers Press of Memphis.

The 12 newspapers are based in Tennessee and Mississippi, and include the Collierville Independent, Southhaven Press, Memphis Shopper?s News & Guide, Bartlett Express, Cordova Beacon, Millington Star, Fayette County Review, Southern Sentinel, Southern Advocate, Bluejacket, East Shelby Review and Shelby Sun Times. The cluster will be operated by the Suburban Newspaper Group, which is an affiliate of FPG and is located in Memphis, Tenn.

FPG was founded in 2005 with the plan to purchase independent local newspapers and combine them in order to provide higher quality service to the respective communities.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer is Robert J. Hively. Chip Turner will become president of Suburban Community Newspapers.
