The Frederick News-Post is laying off 16 employees, including four people from the newsroom.
Editor and Publisher Myron W. Randall told employees Monday that the layoffs affected all levels of staff, from the executive level down.
The company consists of the newspaper; FNP Interactive, a web design firm, and FNP Printing & Publishing, a commercial printing venture.
Randall says the paper has been hurt by a poor economy. He says over the last two years, advertising revenue has declined by millions of dollars.
Randall says the layoffs are a big shock and the company has tried its best make it a one-time event.
