Starting today, Freedom Orange County Information, publisher of The Orange County Register, will provide daily printing and section inserting services for Spanish-language newspaper La Opinion, expanding its commercial printing network of dailies and weeklies. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
In the early morning, La Opinion sends each edition electronically to Freedom Orange County Information’s Santa Ana headquarters, where pages are directly output to plates and positioned on the presses. La Opinion will use its own distribution system to deliver copies to its circulation base.
“Adding La Opinion as a client represents a key milestone in expanding our print operations, and strengthens our position as the area’s leading provider of custom printing solutions,” FOCI Operations Vice President Richard Sant said in a statement.
Freedom Orange County Information recently invested in new inserting equipment, ink jet technology for labeling, a heatset press, perfect binder equipment, and a UV coater at its Anaheim-based Freedom Printing facility to print book and magazine signatures. Freedom Orange County Information’s commercial printing area often works in tandem with newspaper distribution, design, labeling and targeted (by ZIP-code or household) mailing services.
Besides the Register, FOCI publishes the quick-read OC Post daily and Nguoi Viet Daily News, 24 community newspapers, including Spanish-language Excelsior, and several Internet products. It also produces special sections, specialty magazines, custom-published event programs and direct-mail pieces.
