The Detroit Free Press today brought back “For Better or For Worse,” which has been in new/old hybrid mode the past few months.
“We heard from plenty of fans who wanted to make sure we stuck with the strip until character Elizabeth Patterson … is wed sometime in the next two months,” the paper told readers.
The Free Press added that its “main” recent “gripe” with Lynn Johnston’s comic was “a little bit financial, a little bit fairness. Johnston was offering retro-repeats along with the wedding story at original strip prices. And when you can’t provide new material regularly, we’re inclined to give a new artist a chance at winning a following. If the strip goes back to regular reruns, we’ll take a fresh look at the situation.”
“For Better or For Worse” runs in more than 2,000 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
