French and U.S. Artists to Speak at Cartoon Event

An event called “Drawing Inspiration: The Art of the Editorial Cartoon” is being held Jan. 19 in New York City by the French Institute Alliance Francaise.

Speakers will include editorial cartoonists Jean Plantu, who has worked for Le Monde since 1972; and Joel Pett, the 2000 Pulitzer winner who’s with the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader and the Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate/New York Times Syndicate.

The event — which begins at 7 p.m. in Manhattan’s Tinker Auditorium, 55 E. 59th St. — will be moderated by author/The New Yorker writer Adam Gopnik.
