Gannett Now Owns 100 Daily Newspapers

Gannett Co. Inc. yesterday purchased another newspaper, hitting
the 100 mark for daily newspapers owned in the United States.

Gannett bought The Daily World in Opelousas, La., from The New
York Times Co. Regional Newspaper Group. The terms were not
disclosed.

The Daily World, an evening paper with a paid circulation of
12,169, joins Gannett’s four other dailies in Louisiana. The
acquisition increases Gannett’s average paid circulation in the
southern state to 200,000 per day.
