Kate Marymont, executive editor and vice president of The News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla., has been promoted to a new role with the newspaper’s parent company.
The Gannett Co. announced last week that Marymont has assumed the role of vice president/Information Center content in the company’s U.S. Community Publishing Division.
The company also announced that Jennifer Carroll, vice president of new media content and an architect of the company’s multimedia Information Center initiative, was named vice president of digital content for Gannett Digital.
Marymont, who is assuming Carroll’s previous role, has headed the Fort Myers news operation since March 2001. Before that, she was top editor at the Gannett-owned News-Leader in Springfield, Mo. She also has held key editing roles at The News-Journal in Wilmington, Del., and at the Arkansas Gazette in Little Rock.
Carroll was formerly director of news development for the publishing group. She also has held top editing roles at Gannett newspapers, including the Lansing State Journal and The Detroit News in Michigan, and The Burlington Free Press in Vermont.
