Gannett Co., the nation’s largest newspaper publisher, will use the ExactTarget Enterprise Solution software to offer subscribers news and advertisements through e-mail, The Indianapolis Star, a Gannett paper, reported today.
Gannett’s community newspapers, television stations, and its flagship USA Today will use the service.
“It’s important to Gannett to be able to communicate with potentially millions of customers by e-mail, whether they are interested in news, local sales and deals or the status of their newspaper subscription, ” Peter Lundquist, director of online content with the company’s newspaper division, told the Star.
The ExactTarget software was created to allow an organization to manage the creative content of e-mails and to also include local businesses, allowing them to personalize elements.
