Christine M. Chin has been named president and publisher at the Fort Collins Coloradoan.

Chin was president and publisher of The Bellingham (Wash.) Herald, which was acquired last month by Knight Ridder. Chin replaces Dorothy Bland. Bland and Executive Editor Michael Limon resigned abruptly last Wednesday.

“Christine has the varied background and perspective that is a good fit with the Fort Collins community. I am very pleased she will be heading the team at the Coloradoan,” said Susan Clark-Johnson, senior group president of the Pacific Newspaper Group and president and publisher of The Arizona Republic. Clark-Johnson will become head of Gannett’s Newspaper Division on Sept. 30.

Chin joined Gannett in 1993 as the director of market development at The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif. In 1999 she became the strategic development director at the Reno Gazette-Journal and in 2001 went to Bellingham. She previously worked at Knight Ridder and at The Press-Telegram in Long Beach, Calif.
