Gannett Blog posted on July 13 a note to staff from The Cincinnati Enquirer‘s executive editor, Tom Callinan, confirming that Gannett will implement a national page-production network using five hubs for the work.
The note stated that in a morning conference Gannett announced it planned to invest $15 million in CCI Europe’s NewsGate as a single content-management system for all its newspapers.
Callinan wrote: “The biggest news is that we will be part of a regional design center approach that will see news content paginated in Louisville (there will be four other “hubs” – Asbury Park, Nashville, Des Moines and Phoenix.)
CCI NewsGate will roll out next year, with design centers set up over the next two years, according to Callinan, who added, “We will find out where we fit in the schedule soon.
Last winter, longtime CCI user Tribune Co. announced it was moving to NewsGate, allowing for content sharing among titles. And in early 2008 The McClatchy Co. began creating a NewsGate data center for its seven newspapers in the Carolinas to facilitate content sharing and shared integration with McClatchy Interactive.
