U.K. business media report that Gannett’s Newsquest subsidiary sold its former Bolton, England, production plant.

M&A Pharmachem paid just over $3 million for the 9-year-old, 40,000-square-foot printing and distribution facility.

The plant, which produced the Bolton News, Blackburn’s Lancashire Evening Telegraph, the Bury Times and 16 other publications, was built and equipped for almost $26 million, according to TheNewsDesk.com, which reported that Newsquest decided to close it last year.

Gannett acquired Newsquest 11 years  ago for approximately $1.5 billion and the assumption of debt.
