Under a deal recently signed, newspapers in the Gannett Co. Inc. chain will have the option to purchase online products from Waveshift Inc., including YourTown, MyCalendar, and SportsHuddle.
Cameron Park, Calif.-based Waveshift previously had deals with The Arizona Republic and The Indianapolis Star before they were purchased by Gannett. Those deals continue and now The Detroit News is also using some of Waveshift’s products.
MyCalendar is a personal information manager that ties users’ personal activities to the newspaper’s local events calendar. SportsHuddle manages high school sports scores, stats, and player information both online and in print. YourTown is a community publishing system.
Waveshift President Andrew Beal also reports that his privately held company was modestly profitable in the fourth quarter and will be again this quarter.
Founded in 1993, Waveshift is partially owned by McLean, Va.-based Gannett, the McClatchy Co., and Bank of America Securities.
