Dauphin Graphic Machines Inc., of Elizabethville, Pa., is about to deliver a DGM 440S press line to Action Printing of Fond du Lac, Wis., for start up in January. The 12 shaftless units will be configured as three four-high towers, with four Jardis splicers and two DGM 1035 folders.
The 440S permits webs up to 36 inches wide and features a third ink form roller and third oscillator in the ink train. Included will be remote ink control, CIP3 ink presetting capabilities, cutoff controls, Quad Tech web guides, and automatic registration control. Automated stackers will be at each delivery.
“Complementary” to his company’s three existing web press lines, according to Action Printing President Bob Carew, the DGM 440’s layout will allow its operation either as two individual press lines or as a single press for products that require more full-color printing or higher page counts.
The 21st print site certified by the Newspaper Association of America for the Specifications for Newsprint Advertising Production, Action Printing is a division of Gannett Co. subsidiary Action Advertising Inc. In addition to the titles of the Action Publications division’s community newspapers, Action Printing produces catalogs, directories and books serving a national market. It offers in-house creative and pre-press services, web and sheetfed printing, and bindery, mailing, and fulfillment services. Both divisions are repeat top-award winners from their respective trade associations.
