The National Future Farmers of American Organization has launched a site called “Garfield’s Middle School Discovery” for FFA members and their teachers.
Paws Inc. — the company founded by “Garfield” comic creator Jim Davis — developed the interactive site. It uses Davis’ cartoon cat and other characters “to introduce concepts of leadership, personal growth, and career exploration through FFA activities.”
The site includes “KomicZone,” where FFA members create their own comics about the organization, agriculture careers, and more; and “AgWitz,” a trivia game for young people about the FFA, agriscience, U.S. history, and current events.
More than 60,000 middle schools are FFA members.
The Indiana-based Davis, who grew up on a farm, does “Garfield” for about 2,600 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
