“Globe and Mail’ Ops VP Named Winnipeg Publisher

FP Newspapers Income Fund today announced the appointment of Andrew Ritchie as publisher of Manitoba’s Winnipeg Free Press.

In 1999, Ritchie joined The Globe and Mail in Toronto, where he has served as operations vice president. He began his career selling advertising for Britain’s Daily Mail and was subsequently involved in all aspects of the business, holding leadership positions in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Canada.

Announcing the appointment, FP Chairman Ronald Stern said Ritchie’s “varied experience and strong execution skills will complement our strong management team and our leading position in the Winnipeg media market.”

FP Canadian Newspapers Limited Partnership owns the 116,662-circulation (164,106 Saturday) Winnipeg Free Press, the 14,506-circulation (18,506 Saturday) Brandon Sun, and their related businesses, as well as Canstar Community News Ltd., publisher of community and special-interest papers in the Winnipeg region.
