GMA, Allentown, Pa., has closed deals with McClatchy sites in North and South Carolina, a Knight Ridder paper in Georgia, and printers in Philadelphia and overseas.
The News and Observer, Raleigh, N.C., will buy two additional SLS3000 inserters, a 40:2 and a 28:2, to be installed early next year. Six CombiStack bundle-building systems will be added to these inserting lines. Raleigh already has a 28:2 SLS3000 and three CombiStacks. The two new lines will be installed along side the existing one at its Garner plant.
The Island Packet, Hilton Head, purchased a 26:2 dual delivery SLS3000 and two lines of NewsGrip gripper conveyor, for installation next year in its new mailroom.
For fall delivery The Telegraph, Macon, Ga., bought a 12:2 SLS2000R.
Also due to ship in fall are a fourth Alphaliner inserter, a 14:1 machine, and a Robusto Stacker to Philadelphia’s Bartash Printing, which supplies weekly newspapers, shoppers, and niche monthlies for East Coast publishers.
In business abroad, GMA recently sold two 6:2 SLS3000 inserters with press-to-hopper capabilities, a FlexiRoll buffering system, and CN80 stackers to Al Bayan, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and has shipped the first of two Berliner format 20:2 SLS3000 machines to Germany. The second will ship in early December.
