Goss International reduced its U.S. work force on Friday by 170 at facilities in New Hampshire, Illinois and Texas and said it is considering other options, including short-term summer furloughs.

The staff reduction and further cost savings were responses to economic conditions, particularly a decline in advertising expenditures, which have adversely impacted the demand for new printing and print finishing equipment worldwide, according to Goss International CEO Jochen Meissner.
