After providing similar services for doublewidth and commercial presses for several years, Goss International has assembled a team of experts to provide press audits and enhancement services to users of the company’s Urbanite and Community presses.
Led by company veterans Dennis Panosh and Steve Benford, the team was created to help customers “extend the competitive lifetime” of their presses, according to Goss spokesman Greg Norris.
“We have a huge installed base of Goss Urbanite and Community presses, and those presses are aging, so there’s a large market that could benefit from this service,” Norris said.
The Goss team’s audit will compare press performance to company benchmarks. Based on an audit, the team would draw up a plan to enhance press performance, said Norris. The team will assess such areas of improvement as print quality, speed and maintenance issues.
Papers wishing to improve press performance can take on the task themselves, find a third-party supplier, or use Goss. The advantage to using the original manufacturer is access to original design specs, parts, proprietary documents and performance data, Norris said.
