PressPoint Turns Web Site Into Newspaper

Several online-only news organizations in the U.S. have recently opted
to create print magazines, among them Inside.com. The trend may be
spreading abroad; an online sports portal in Greece said Monday that
it will produce a print edition.

Sportline of Athens will launch a print-on-demand newspaper through
PressPoint of New York.

The first issue of Sport.gr Global Edition, a 24-page daily newspaper,
appeared yesterday. The new paper will feature original content
combined with news from the Web site, as well as an overview of
general interest news from Greece and Cyprus. Sport.gr utilizes
PressPoint’s technology to distribute same-day print editions
around the world.

The paper initially will be available in New York, Toronto, London,
and Sydney – all cities with large Greek populations. Later this
year, the paper will appear in Melbourne, Australia.

‘We are pleased to partner with PressPoint as we believe that their
service allows newspapers to move in the right direction by narrowing
the time gap between production and availability,’ said Constantine
Kamaras, CEO of Sportline. ‘There is huge potential in this model
and we want to be positioned early, learn first and fast and adapt
accordingly.’

Sportline says it has 650,000 users.
