Greenspun Media Group will stop publishing its monthly Las Vegas Life magazine, while retaining the brand as an online portal and continuing the annual “Best of” edition, the company’s president said Wednesday.
The move is an attempt to “improve efficiencies and remove some redundancies” within the company’s nine newspapers and magazines covering southern Nevada, Greenspun Media Group President Michael Carr said.
Lifestyles, food and culture coverage currently in Las Vegas Life will be folded into sister publications Las Vegas Weekly, VEGAS Magazine and Las Vegas Home and Design, he said.
Carr said the shift was not a reaction to the downturn in the economy, but a long-term emphasis on online publication.
The monthly’s Web site will be redesigned as an anchor for content from all local publications, he said.
The transition eliminated about four of the 15 positions at the magazine; the remaining staff was absorbed into other Greenspun publications, Carr said.
Las Vegas Life, first published in 1997 and aimed at Las Vegas residents, had a monthly circulation of 40,000. Its April issue will be the final monthly edition.
