Guatemala’s President Attacks Newspapers

Barely more than a year ago, a high-level delegation from the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) returned home from Guatemala cautiously hopeful that the Central American nation had finally left behind its history of official intimidation of — and violence against — the press. But now the IAPA and others are accusing the government of running an official harassment campaign against the nation’s major dailies.
