TIJUANA — The most explosive news in Baja California on Friday didn’t result from any act of journalism. The source of much commotion and commentary in the state’s political, business and media circles was a newspaper advertisement signed by Baja California Gov. Francisco Vega de Lamadrid and the state’s five mayors. The full-page ad, published in local media, accused the owners of Tijuana’s Frontera and its sister newspapers in Mexicali and Ensenada of extortion.
