Prior to the launch of its Africa edition, Quartz was still seeing between 100,000 – 150,000 monthly readers originating from the continent. For editor-in-chief Kevin Delaney, that wasn’t much of a shock. The digital pure-play’s focus on international business news, he says, inures it to an extent from culture shock that might otherwise have affected it.
