The N.Y. Times vs. Washington Free Beacon

Two years ago, The New York Times published a front-page story about Michael Goldfarb and the Washington Free Beacon, a website that, per the Times, was “gaining prominence as a conservative clarion.”


At Free Beacon, Goldfarb and co-founder Matthew Continetti had “combined a relatively new form of weaponized journalism, politicking and public policy into a potent mix,” the Times reported. Goldfarb told the Times that the site was making a serious investment in journalism, and also proudly acknowledged that their daily objective was to “cause trouble.”
