A hearing on whether large signs promoting a movie may be placed on the building that houses Philadelphia’s two largest newspapers has been postponed for a week.
The chairman of Philadelphia’s Zoning Board of Adjustment says Philadephia Media Holdings should meet with community groups before a variance is considered. A variance would be needed because the proposed temporary signs are much larger than city ordinances allow.
The head of the zoning board also chided the applicants for saying they had the support of a city councilman but not offering any direct evidence of the councilman’s support.
Philadephia Media Holdings wants to place the signs and a large inflatable bee on its landmark building to promote an upcoming animated film called “Bee Movie.”
