Hearst Newspapers is rolling out ad-supported Internet video channels through a partnership with Brightcove.
?Video is a crucial piece to an online news and information presence today,? Lincoln Millstein, senior vice president and director of digital media for Hearst Newspapers, said in a statement. ?The video will enhance offline content and will also build an entire experience and community around new content.?
With Brightcove?s technology Hearst can solicit video from readers while selling advertising space. The San Francisco Chronicle and Houston Chronicle are the group?s first papers to launch the channels.
Hearst Interactive Media, a division of Hearst, is an investor in Brightcove.
